John 19:23-27
I. As the Savior of the world, Jesus is both God and Man; He is the Son of God and the Child of Mary.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5
II. Mary, John, and the other ladies showed devotion to Jesus when most others fled.
III. Even upon the cross, Jesus’ concern was for others.
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
IV. Jesus shows us the importance of cherishing family.
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8
V. Jesus expects us to care for His people.
But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” Luke 8:21
Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. Mark 10:29–30
